ok This is driving me to drink lB
i have just replaced the hard drive in a checkout Xn760, reinstalled windows and drivers - including touch drivers [elo] on com5.
No matter what I try, I cannot get the touch screen to operate!
Despite all the elo diagnostics telling me it's working fine, the darn mouse will not follow my finger! or align the screen - in fact, i may as well be poking my television set! lB

Have tried all the versions of the drivers on the disk and downloaded and installed the latest drivers from elo any help would be greatl appreciated - preferably before i go bald!!! !dunce

On to issue number 2 !what lB lB
This, to be fair , I was expecting to have problems with - Licencing! ;R
Despite being able to salvage the ICRTouch folder in its entirity from the dying [not dead] HDD, the software thinks ive got a wooden leg and an eye patch!

After a few minutes of operation, i get booted out of the software with the message "invalid or no dongle" - NO DONGLE IS CORRECT - BUT THIS THING NEVER HAD ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE HONEST GUV lB lB lB

Can someone please put me out of my misery and tell me what i have missed - before I end up touching this screen with a hammer !what !what ;R !explode

This might be way off but, is ICRtouch possibly thinking port 5 is where a dongle would be, seeing something there and taking over the port thus stopping the touch screen working.
I had something similar with a usb touchscreen when a customer decided to change where everything was plugged in and then put them back to their original positions allowing another program to grab and keep the touchscreen port.

An interesting point !Chin but the touch screen fault was present before loading icrtouch -it's still worth uninstalling touch again since most of the driver updates were carried out after its installation

the software will be licensed to the hard drive if the terminal didn't have a dongle, which is why the software is shutting down. I would contact ICRTouch about re licensing as they will have a record of this machine and will probably email you a new license file all being fine. :)

leigh - thanks for that. i did exactly that this afternoon to be told that the relicence will only be considered if i send them the duff drive!
I understand the importance of copyright theft but come on!
the customer may have other data that needs to be recovered from the original drive before i give it to them-failing that, if i cant sort out the touchscreen, there's no point in fitting a new hard drive-the machine will have to be returned unrepaired  why can they not licence it to a less volatile component - such as the mac address of the network card !explode

I hate to be beaten but the touch thing looks like its going to beat me :x
as a last resort, i am going to suggest "cloning" till2 and then overwriting the touch installation from till1 - its a bit inconvenient to leave the customer withno tills at all for a few hours!

I can send you the elo drivers if you like. They're too big to attach here (even zipped), but I could send them to another address.
I completely agree with you about icrtouch being way over the top about licencing. I've had customers break hard drives within six months because they refuse to power down the machine properly and just pull the plug from the wall, no matter how many times they're told!

we had one with a similar fault recently, we got a new panel which had the wrong connecter on so it had to be modified, then we found that a component on the board had gone.
It's ended up in our workshop for spares because of the cost of parts and labour.

Is anything stopping you from recovering the data from the disk then sending it back, whever I have had to do this they haven given me well over 2 months to return the drive.
