Hi,

Ive just purchased a Casio SE S2000 together with a honeywell scanner for a charity shop that I run. We're a small concern selling about 150 different products.

Ive set up the time and date and tax tables ok (we have 2 levels of VAT - normal and 0%) and all seems to be working fine.

But my problem is entering the products as PLU into the till. When we come to enter the PLU number either by hand or by scanning the barcode the machine just gives a long beep and the operation fails.

We've tried entering a product by the product not found function and while it will add the product it wont let us set the tax rate for the item.

Ideally we just want to be able to scan product A- for the till to realise that Prod A is a gromet and what its price is - and how much of that price is VAT,to print that ProdA is a gromet on the recipt, And when I come to do the books tell me that we sold £xxx and we owe the tax man £xxxxxxxx.

Hoping some kind soul can assist
Fletch

how are you entering the product? Have you got an obr key allocated or are you using the plu key?

Off the top of my head, try pgm 3, 71 subtotal and follow the procedure (will check in the morning for the full procedure, its been a while since ive done one of those!

Hi Thanks for the prompt reply

Ive followed the steps in the book to enter the PLU code by both entering it manually (where it gives a long beep after pressing the next key which from memory is the PLU key (Im at home atm but it definately gives the long beep after I press the next key after typing in the PLU)) and via the scanner by scanning the bar code when the manual asks to enter the PLU - at which point the till gives a long beep.

Im not sure what an OBR key is

Im back at the till now

The manual says to program a price for each PLU press
1
sub total
PLU No
PLU key
unit price
CA/Amt Tend
Sub Total

If entering manually I type in the bar code (which shows on the display) and then get a long beep (indicating to me theres a problem) when I press the PLU key. When I get to the final step it prints off a reem of paper with department codes on it

If entering via the scanner I get the long beep when I scan the item and when I press the PLU key.

I know Im probably doing something really basic wrong hree but am completely stumped.

Furthr update:

I have worked out that if I enter the PLU number as say 001 then the operation goes straight ahead with no problems - except I cant assign that PLU number to a barcode/product.

So how do u assign a barcode number to a PLU number so u can scan the product?

OBR is the barcode key. PLUs and barcodes are not the same. The instructions for PLUs will not work for barcodes. Barcode programming is not shown in the normal manual.

Add an OBR key - turn key to PGM, press 4 SUBTOTAL, 103 press a free key, then SUBTOTAL. This is basically the PLU key for barcodes.

As for adding scanning items, follow my instructions in the first post (although the manual i have does say do it in pgm1 - do it in pgm3 and im sure it will follow the steps you need.

Just out of interest, you say you bought it - why have you not gone back to the people you bought it from (I say this as an owner of a Casio tier 1 dealership in the uk. Im always suprised when people ask for support on a brand new machine, when the company that supplied it should be supporting it! They should help you sort it out. It should be part of the customer support service.)
