Hi Everyone

I just bought a new CASIO TE-3000S. Everything worked fine until I connected an Orbit scanner to COM 2. I had powered the CASIO off, without unplugging the power plug. When I connected the scanner, the unit powered up, and started display INIT and then the display went blank. Now I cannot get the unit to power down when I switch the off key on the Mode keys. I can only power it down by switching off or unplugging the unit. I cannot get the display to work, it is always on and is blank, even though I remove the scanner. I tried INIT using the CF card by powering the unit up at PGM and pressing the Journal Key but it wont work. Can anyone help me please?

This is normal. The Com Port needs to be configured before you can plug in the ECR.

Set up I/O parameters for the Com Port.
Do a Flag Clear.
Unplug the ECR from the wall.
Connect the Scanner.
Then Plug the power cord back in.

Since Com 2 is always powered, when you plug or unplug a scanner from it you may lose all programming and have to re-init the ECR.

Hi Kevin

Thank you very much. I will try to get the IPL and reinstall and let you know. The only sad part is that I live in the Pacific islands, we have no support here, so I need to get to the company that sold the unit to transmit the IPL to do so. Or is it possible to start the unit again using the CF card? I have no idea what is in it. Thanks very much for your help.

Kevin

I tried to flag clear. The display is still blank instead of showing FFFFFFFFFF. I have removed all the scanner.

Is the machine damaged?

Thanks

Hi Kevin

Thanks. But that is exactly what I tried to do. I cannot get past the blank screen.

1. I unplugged the ECR.
2. I removed the scanner from COM-2.
3. I plug in the power.
4. I turn the mode key to PGM.
5. I press the receipt feed key and plug the machine and turn on the power switch.
6. DISPLAY IS BLANK. There are no FFFFFFFFF. The display is just green in color.
7. Then I turn mode key to off. Display remains. I unplug the power. Retried. No Luck.

I dont know how to thank you.

Best Regards

James

I would try to re-initialize the ECR. Of course this wipes out everything you had programmed, but it sounds to me that's what may have happened anyway.

Its just like a Flag Clear except you will be pressing and holding the "Journal Feed" Button down as you turn key to PGM Mode. What we want to do is get the till to either say "INIT" or "000000000000".

Another thing to look for is a reset button, usually near the COM Ports and probably under a white slip of paper. I do have a couple of these models in the warehouse, I could go grab one and help you locate the reset if you need. Let me know.

I got the ECR back to normal. You are absolutely right on - it worked on the reset button located next to the CF CARD. Thanks a million. Anyone else reading this, well, I will buy my next machine from Kevin. He did not sold me this unit. I wished he had, so I did not have to go through this kind of nightmare.

You're welcome. Glad it worked. It is very common. You have to get the init changeover part just right or you can lose everything. I'm glad you understood my instructions well enough.
