Hi, Yep, the dealer manual is where the low level system areas are programmed. The idea being that the dealer consults you when selling the machine, then sets all of the system presets for you, then gives you the machine with very little user programming left to do which you use the owners manual for. There will be lots of scary names for everything in the manual, and as far as I know, we here on EPOSwizard are about the only training school around :-)
Here's some pointers for you:
When programming, you go into each prog mode with a number and SUBTOTAL. To read the tax prog, you need program 6 mode, so turn to program, then press 6 then SUBTOTAL. you'll see 'P6' on the display. Now lookup the part called 'reading stored programs' in your dealer book. There will be codes for reading everything in prog 6 mode. Find the one for tax, and follow the instructions. This will print out the current rates etc.
When allocating new buttons to the keyboard, you need prog 4 mode, so turn to prog, type 4 then SUBTOTAL - 'P4' on display. Now look for the table in the book showing two digit codes for every function. You just type the code, then press the button you want to set it to. Remember to press SUBTOTAL when finished. This ends programming. NOTE: If a function has some sales in it, then you sometimes can't move it to another position. E.G if you want to move an item button, but you have sold some of this item, then you must reset the daily/ periodic reports to clear the sales before you can move the item button.
If you have the receipt switch set to off position, then the machine will only issue a receipt when you press the RECEIPT button. If you have tax setup, then it will normally be printed on the receipt and end of day. If it still doesn't after you have setup you tax, we can have a look at that programming.
See how you get on with that lot, and feel free to ask if you get stuck.
