We had upgraded our version of samstock from 4.80 to 4.9.1 and we have cleared our till of all the old plu files and then resent them across. The samevent to resend them across to the till seemed to work fine, as no error codes came up and it completed the action successfully. However when we have scanned in one of the barcodes on the till (ER-420M) as a sale it doesn't appear to recognise it. The incredible thing is that when you scan the same barcode into the till as a price enquiry it finds the file. It looks as if the information has been sent over as it has memory of it for the price enquiry, but there is something preventing it to be used for a sale transaction.

Something else we have noticed is that with the old version of Samstock 4.8 when we entered a barcode of three or four digits samstock 4.8 would automatically put zeros in front of the digits to make it up to a six digit number. Now on the new version of samstock version 4.9.1 is doesn't. Again amazingly when you search on the group product files since the upgrade some have zeros in front of the barcode number and some haven't, even though I haven't manually entered any zeros as a prefix myself?

lB I have been struggling to get this sorted out now for a while and I would be very grateful of any advice that anyone could offer.

Many thanks.

DID YOU UNINSTALL THE OLD VERSION OR LOAD THE NEW ONE OVER THE TOP?
THERE ARE SEVERAL SETTINGS THAT NEED LOOKING AT UNDER MAINTENANCE
CONFIGURATION
SYSTEM OPTIONS.
aS FOR THE PRODUCTS - CHECK UNDER STATUS OPTIONS TAB IN THE PRODUCT SETUP

hi. thankyou for your reply.

The original copy of v4.8 was installed onto a new laptop and the plu data was entered manually. The dealer received the upgrade disk and he loaded it. I cannot be certain how he physically loaded the upgrade file and when I ask him it isn't clear.

Not sure if this makes any difference but the Er420M till that we have has a 1.5 EPROM chip (2005) although the dealer hasn't suggested this would be a problem from a compatibility point of view with the latest samstock, do you think this is anything to do with the problem?

As the price enquiry seemed to work and not the sale I was wondering whether there is a setting in the till not right?

Sorry, for all the questions, the dealer doesn't seem to be moving us forward. In fact since the last mail a till PLU clear was performed, and a send all product event from samstock was performed again and now even the price enquiry doesn't work. As mentioned previously the SAM event performs ok and no failed events are listed, which keeps me thinking that its a till problem, or in fact the PLU data itself.

not aware of eprom conflicts with samstock - try creating a new product from scratch
see if that one scans

i still reckon the status tab needs some scrutiny

Andy-the-diver, thankyou for replies.

Still no joy at the moment. Just to add, I recall reading a comment within the forum regarding compatibility issues with samstock and the eeprom, as we have a 2005 till with 1.5version eeprom which originally worked with Samstock v4.8 it made wonder if it was the upgrage to v4.9.1 that caused the problem. Anyway, I guess if you think thats not a problem I should move.

What are the particular parameters in the status tab that need checking?

Also, can and old samstock data folder be copied over a another samstock data folder on a new machine using MS windows copy/paste? Is this a sensible / pratical way of copying samstock data or is there a fucntion with samsstock like export that can do it?

regards,

depending on the age/version difference in the product file, thats EXACTLY how i do it.
rename the newer directory first so that you can recover it if this goes pear shaped.
