good afternoon all,

i hope you can help me with a problem we are experiencing in my local social club. i apologise if some of the info is incorrect, however i only got a partial garbled message from the social club secretary and, seeing as i work on a pc most of the day, tend to get landed with the majority of the technical problems.

we run a number of samsung SER6500 tills on our 2 bars, and have them linked to the pc. i have had a look through the forum as i was led to believe the utitity program the club uses is called sams tools, however this may be samstock.

recently, when trying to obtain reports for daily sales, we have been presented with the error code 20534, and it appears that all the data is now missing.

2 things, if anyone can work it out from the above information please:

1. what does this error code mean, and how can we resolve it.

2. the club secretary seems to think that this problem has only started to occur after he loaded MCAFEE anti virus and it seems to start with the error code once the antivirus has done an update. are the 2 connected?

many thanks in anticipation for all your help. if you require any further or more specific information, please do not hesitate to ask me the info you require.

kind regards

I wrote this software many many years ago, so I'm a bit rusty on it now.

Have you installed a new version of Microsoft Access.

Option 1.
If so look at the Automatic Installation section on this link and down load the relevant file for your Operating System. http://www.randem.com/support.html

The loss of data is not related to the error as this error is coming from a third party report software intergrated into Samtools called Crystal Reports.

Option 2.
BACKUP YOUR EXISTING DATA.
Try reinstalling the software (Note down the setting in the setup section as you will need to re enter these) to see if this resolves the error message. If you've lost your copy let me know and I can let you have a copy FOC.

Your existing data should not be overwritten, so look to see if the error has gone and the data exists.

One other thing you may have had some viruses on the PC and the relevant files have been killed by the scanner. Why was McAfee installed onto the PC?

hi posman,

many thanks for the info. i will pass this on, however i fear he may have had someone in to sort the problem out, as it has not been directly mentioned since.

not sure why antivirus was put on the pc. might have been due to the original licence of the previous antivirus expiring and just fancied a change of anti virus provider.

i will post back if we need any further help or info.

kind regards
