External card machine Cash back

Postby Wickedskipper on Mon Aug 14, 2017 10:34 am

I have just taken over a pub with an ICR touch 2016 till system.

I've worked out how it works and managed to reprogram it all apart from a cash back button.

We use a PDQ machine not linked to ICR that we manually type in the amount on. We quite regularly have customers that ask for cash back, currently I am putting this through the card machine and giving them the cash making our end of day report wrong on the amount of cash/credit. Is there a way to do this where the cash/credit at the end of the day is correct?

Thank You

You could set up a 'Media Exchange' key which effectively converts cash to card so your figures will tally up correctly.

Sounds perfect. Where is the setting for a media exchange key?

It's a Transaction Key type.

It's not an integrated card system.

Sorry, you said EFT, which I normally think of as referring to integrated.

The OP hasn't been here since 14th August, which is fairly typical of the posters on here, but his biggest issue should be the legality of providing cash back on a non-integrated system, and presumably without the agreement of his credit card processing company.

I recently enabled cashback on my EFT machine.

Make sure you ask your merchant provider for permission beforehand otherwise you will get charged as a normal % of the transaction.
