having a few problems with my geller ET 6600 - any help would be greatly appreciated!

We've started selling new products and need them to go through at a different VAT rate, i.e. wet sales (17.5%) and dry sales (0%)

Does anyone know how to program the keyboard so that some items come under a department at one tax rate, whilst other items stay at another tax rate?

Each department can have a tax rate applied. The setting is within one of the department flags.

You need a manual. Is vat already in use on your register?
Tax rates on the register must be set unless already done.

Then each department flag must be set to reflect the appropriate tax rate. Department flag 1 has 4 bits. Set bit 1 to 1 if linking to tax rate 1. Set bit 2 to 1 if setting to tax rate 2.
All of the above in P1 programming position.

To enter the dept flag settings

SEL (Press this until flag appears)
INPUT

At this point you should see flag 1 bit 1 for dept1
Press enter to skip to next bit or enter 1 to set tax 1

Keep pressing Input to skip through bit's 1-4 and you will move on to next dept

To program for example Department 1 for tax 1

SEL (Press and release a couple of times until you see 'flag' displayed)
INPUT

enter 1 for tax 1
or 10 for tax 2
or 100 for tax 3
or 1000 for tax 4

INPUT

You are now in flag for dept 2 etc. To skip a dept press INPUT to move to next dept

i'm still unsure about the step prior to this however... how do i set the tax rates? I only need to apply vat to the new products we've added (the rest aren't taxable) and I've tried but the till doesn't like what i'm entering!

I don't have a manual so can't give exact steps but follow this

You can ignore Limit and Style

Tax rate 1 should now be programmed as 17.5%. If no tax has been programmed previously then tax 2-4 should be at zero anyway.
Tax 1 = Wet sales. Tax 2 = Dry sales

Try this. There may be another system flags to program later as the machine is usually defaulted to add-on tax

thank you! hopefully this will be my last question: in doing this i've managed to set the till to refund mode, so every time i cash off an item, it comes up as a negative price...help!

You must have set the department as a negative department. This is done within department flag 2. You need to change department flag 1 as my earlier instructions.

For each department that is subtracting you need to set flag 2 bit 2 to zero.

yes, that all makes sense. thanks!

the tax rates are now applied to the correct departments, but can i change the stage at which it is added? at the moment £1.20 comes up on the till but this changes to £1.41 when cashed off, leaving the till 21p down after each transaction... is there any way to change this?
