Hello, would anyone be able to give some advice? I bought a second hand Geller TX 500 for our charity shop, I managed to programme it last week and all seemed to be working fine. It looks like I plugged it into an extension cable that wasn't switched on, so it hasn't had power for 5 days.

When I turned it on this morning, 3 flashing dots appear on the display in all of the key positions, and when i try and enter a sale in R position it looks like it's entering a code (like in the programing mode). Switching it on and off doesn't help. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Hannah

Sounds like the memory for the electronic journal may be full. Have you tried to run a Z report? If this doesn't work try clearing the journal. Key to Z and press -%

Hello, thanks for trying to help - I just tried your suggestion but whatever i press just adds a code to the display, so i can't do a Z report. Also nothing happened when i tried -%
I did a Z report twice last week and haven't used it since, so the memory wouldn't be full.

It could be clerk interrupt if not the journal.
Try logging in as each clerk and see if there are any sales held under three clerks.

If you need a manual, c-tech collective has Towa/Geller user and programming here:

Hi, I haven't programmed any clerks in, so there are no passwords to enter. Also anything i try to type just comes up in code, like it's in a programing mode.

I have a manual for the machine, it doesn't mention flashing dots anywhere.

Thanks for your advice anyway,

H

I've always found that flashing dots on a tx500 have been caused by a full journal. Unless you are sure that the register is set to overwrite the journal memory or clear it when running a z report I would suspect it.
Your only other option would be to ram clear the machine but you would have to reprogram it from scratch

Just wondered whether -% button is in it's original position on your keyboard.

On raised button keyboard it would be the 3rd button in from the top right corner
On flat keyboard it would be just to the right of digit 9

hey, thanks for the advice. I still couldn't get any sense out of it, I don't think the journal could have been full as the Z reports I did last week cleared it, and I only just bought it so I would assume it had been wiped and back to default on all the settings. Also the manual describes the journal being full as flashing triangles at the top of the display, whereas I had flashing dots at the bottom of the display.

The seller's only suggestion is that it may have had a power surge, so I have given up and just wiped it and started again (just took me 2 hours to re-program!). It's currently working again now, so hopefully it will stay working fingers crossed.

Thanks
H
