ok so ive been through the manual i have cover to cover - twice!
nowhere can i find a flag to turn off consolidate like items.
my other thought was - ok if i turn off buffer receipt, it can't then consolidate items can it?
great in theory but again, i can't find where to do this :x

i know it can be done as i currently have in my possession, a geller 780 that most certainly does not consolidate like items.

i'm so sorry not to be able to help but if anyone is following this thread, perhaps the last couple of posts have shed light on the real issue?

failing that, perhaps starting another thread with the title " how to stop like items consolidating on receipt"
and/or " how to change buffer receipt to real time printing"

Many apologies - but i will continue to watch this post with interest

Would Flag 1502 - Consolidate by <Consol> key

be the one.

By my understanding. This would mean that if the Consol key is pressed it will continue to consolidate items until the Consol key is pressed again.

Could you check to see what this flag is set to on your ML780?

Currently, my till has this flag set to ZERO and it consolidates items. If yours is set to ONE them it's a definate possible, if that;s not a contradiction in terms.

Solution found.

See picture.

Non-Consolidate Items on Guest Till needs to be set to containa tick.

Flag 008 (Search 'consol' under system flags) Bit 3 this should be set in order to non-consolidate items.

Now I have a new problem.

VAT!!!

I am trying to set the VAT to 20%. I understand that the till needs to reflect 200000 under Rate 1 Under Tax Rates and the PLU's need to be set to show Rate 1 in this respect.

I also understand that Flag 1 under the Tax Rate needs to have a tick in the box to select VAT mode which is the mode which incorporates the 20% VAT into the price attached to the relevant button, the other way around and 20% is added to the price attached to the button.

My question is, why when I ring up £10.00 on the till does the VAT charged on this £10.00 say Tax £1.67? Surely this should read £2.00?

If I cannot sort this I need to calculate every week the VAT element manually.

well done with that - will try to find that again in my book.

your vat question is a common misconception and a mathmatical error.

if you sell a product for £10, not all of that money is yours.

if you wanted to sell a product for £10 plus vat, then the total at the finalisation of the sale will be £12
so the vat content of £12 is £2
the vat content of £10 is not £2 because you never really charged £10.
you actually charged £8.33
the blinkin government then charged your customer 20% of your £8.33 which is £1.66 [decimal places excused]
bottom line - you are actually collecting a fifth less than you think you are !!!!

you need to decide if you are going to set your machine to add vat at the point of sale [£10 + 20% = £12]
or [which is more likely for the end user of your service] vat extract [£10 -(£10/1.2) = £1.67]
