You need to make sure that the baud rate on the till and pc is at a value of 19200bps and that the device function is set to pc.

To do that

S position on till
80 - sbtl - 1 - xtime - 4 - cash cash
80 - sbtl 5 -xtime - 1 - cash cash

Thanks, i 've tried that (and all the other baud rates too!!), serial porst are set correctly, unfortunately got the same message constantly....

Youve had two ain error messages

Initialise port fail tells me that the port on the PC is been used by another application or the USB convertor is not correct. I asum you maybe using a portable PC? and possibly a Dell PC?

If so, Plug all the cables in and go to device manager and delete the relevant serial port, now re scan for the serial port and this will now be created. Now try the comms to the ECR. If it work you may have to do this sequence every time you PC is switched off and on. Its a hardware issue and I dont no the total solution.

You second mainerror message tells me that you are getting past the serial port on the PC but not getting connection the the cash register. You say you have programmed the cash register correctly so its either the USB convertor or the cable.

Please be aware that not all USB serial Convertors work. Try another type.

I think your snag is the same as i had, when you connect your pc to the till you MUST use the USB connected into the lead supplied for the till, then the supplied cable into the till, this had me going mad once upon a time, and it was such an easy fix, it was silly!! Try that and your PC will connect no problem at all!
