Hello All,

I am trying to set up a Uniwell TX-850, have a copy of PLM 2000 (v2.3), am having difficulty getting the till and the PC to talk to each other. have tried a few different configurations but keep getting a FTP Communication error.

How do i find the IP address of the till? (it is connected with the standard uniwell RS232 cable to my PC)

Sorry for lack of info as i know little about these machines but any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Alex

You can't use an RS232 cable to communicate with the ECR via Ethernet, you will need a crossover Ethernet cable (or a hub/switch) to do FTP Comms.

There are potentially two sockets on the TX850, only one of which is an Ethernet socket, the other is an IRC port for Inter Register Communication (or to connect a Uniwell TP Printer) - the Ethernet socket will have two small lights and the IRC Socket will be labelled Channel A. You should note however, the Ethernet card was an option on the TX850 and many machines will not have the Ethernet board fitted.

By default, the ECR has an IP Address of 192.168.1.200 (Assuming it is ECR1) - System Flag 66f determines if this default IP Address is used, or if an address programmed using the System Program (SP201) is used. If the ECR isn't ECR1 (SP200 will show you the ECRID) the IP Address will be 192.168.1.(199+the ECR Number) - e.g. if the ECR ID is 15 the IP Address will be 192.168.1.14

One more thing - the ECR must be configured as an FTP Server for PLM2000 to communicate (SF125-H)- be careful though, if you have the UK Firmware (06 version) it is unlikely that PLM2000 will work - this is designed for the Japanese (03/07/10) versions of ECR Firmware. If you have an earlier (HMS or 03) version of firmware, Ethernet communications was not implemented so you would have to stick to using RS232 communications.
