Thanks for replying, I've got the manager code and have managed to do most of the simple bits now- I've done all the basic product naming and pricing, i now have to do the look up PLUs (getting into the lingo too!) for things like wine lists and food menus.
BUT!!!
I have made a major error tonight, I was re-assigning the look up PLU buttons to keys where I wanted them, and accidentally pressed the enter key twice, this removed the enter key by turning it into a lookup PLU key (there was a lot of swearing as soon as I did it)
So, what I now need to know is-
1 Can I plug an external keyboard in to get round the problem?
2 Can I clone one epos unit from another (I have 2 tills and want them to be identical, can i do this without inputting everything again)
many thanks,
Hi,
Well done with the programming, it's really not that difficult once you get going is it?
These cash registers have two keyboard layouts programmed into their memory, 1 is a programmable keyboard and the other is completely fixed. So the way to reprogram the Enter key is to;
Switch the keyboard to the fixed keyboard (where the enter key will still be functional) enter the programming menu, reprogram the enter key, then switch it back into the programmable keyboard (and your enter key will now be working again)
Below is a copy of where all the keys will be once you've switched to the fixed keyboard, chances are the scroll and enter keys will be in different places to your normal keyboard. Also take note of the 3 keys marked with a red cross.
downloads/images/sx700keyboard.jpgHere is the procedure:
Turn the key to the
SP postion
Turn the till off at the power or by the switch under the lip down the righthand side of the till
Hold down all 3 keys marked with the red cross at the same time
Turn the till back on whilst holding those keys firmly down
Somewhere on the screen you should see this message flash up:
[F0] (If you don't see this flash up you may not have done it correctly, turn the till off and start again. You can do this as many times as you need until [F0] is reached)
Once in this mode you can logon with your manager pin using the new keyboard layout mentioned above, and reporgram the enter key in the same way you unprogrammed it last time

(Basically, go into the function key programming, scroll down the list and find ENTER, press Enter on it, then press the actual key where you want ENTER to be on your normal keyboard)
When done, press
CL 3 times then
Clerk I.D. to finish programming.
Now if you repeat the procedure exactly as you did earlier by holding the 3 keys down and this time look for the message
[F1], like before you can do this as many times as you need to. Once the till is switched back to F1 it should be back to normal with the enter key working again.
I'll leave you with this for now and when you get sorted we'll discuss transfering the data from one till to another as this can easily be acheived as long as the correct cable is used.
Good Luck.
