Hi, We're very close to replacing our existing EPOS. I hope that Epos Wizard users will feel free to comment asap...

Our Alphameric legacy (DOS) system is a "best fit" solution that does what we want and is fully understood by us. It is also unsupported without my personal intervention and has a maximum 5 year lifespan IF we replace hardware items now. The Alphameric software codes were bought by a nice one-man-band based in Reading: no engineering support on the road...

So far we think that a pair of "tills" with a back-office PC of some type will be best to replace the EPOS side of the Alphameric system. The very specialised newsagent module from the Alphameric can be run on a stand alone PC, allowing us to step outside the limited and expensive "newsagent EPOS" market.

I'd be interested in any comments. Specific problems with systems we've investigated so far (Casio QT6000) is the use of meal deal and multi-buy discounts at the point of sale. I'd live with a work-around but not one that needs staff to manually discount or void off items for obvious security reasons.

Does anyone know which of the EPOS systems handle these offers? Do I have to step outside of the "Cash-register" mode and stay with PCs and EPOS software?

Thanks, Great site, I was stuck to find information on this!

Hello
You seem to have a multitude of requirements. Check out www.powerpos.com

The PowerPoS application will easily deal with your need for "meal deal" and "multi-buy" discounts at the point of sale. Included in the standard software is the Newspaper delivery application. There are many other features which are included as standard including Customer Loyalty and Trade Accounts. You will get comprehensive reporting too.

The latest PowerTouch 1201 terminal is available exclusively in the UK from PowerPoS and is an absolute dream to use.

Our research shows that the PowerPoS system offers features generally found only on systems that cost twice the price or more.

Hope this helps

Nick
