Hi

I've just got myself a SPS 2000 for use in my (table service) restaurant. Now, I only bought the terminal as I already have a cash drawer and a printer (an Epson T88II which seems to be a compatible printer). The SPS 2000 came without any instructions but E-Till Systems (the retailer) did provide me with a pdf of the programming manual.
Anyway, my first problem is getting the printer to work- it's all plugged in and powered up but the SPS doesn't seem to 'see' the Epson T88II and the serial port tests all show 'fail'. I'm not entirely sure how to configure the serial ports though. Am I missing something completely obvious?

If anyone has a quick set-up guide, it would be greatly appreciated. I'll upload the manual to this website (seems there are a few sites out there charging for it) and I also found a pdf of the operation guide somewhere, which I'll upload once I find it again.

Cheers
T

Quick Guide

There is a section in that manual on how to setup a printer.

Regards,

Dave

Thanks for your previous reply.

What I'm getting now is the SPS2000 telling me (whenever I try to print something) "Printer Offline- Reg 1 Port: 3"

Now, I'm pretty sure that I assigned the printer properly (it's the only one I have and the only one I'll use so I gave it number 1, naturally) in the setup and it's definately plugged into the right port (I've tried it with a couple but right now it's in COM port 3) and it's all powered up and switched on.

The SPS software seems to think that it would know an Epson T88II and it does seem to have the drivers there.......

Any ideas on this one?

What baud rate is the printer set to?

If you hold down the feed button while switching on it will print some info with the baud rate that it is set to.

I did the printer test- seems fine. The baud rate is set to 9600 and that's how I set up the port. Looked at the other variables too (data bits, stop bit, etc) and they all seem to match.

Yeah.

After fiddling around a bit, I've got it so the terminal 'thinks' it's printing (i.e. no error message appears and during the self test, I get a 'printing.......' message but the printer doesn't move.

I've been thinking that the Epson T88II might be old tech, so I've ordered a Sam4S Ellix 20 mkII, which I'm hoping will run ok straight out the box (after config).

You got any pointers for programming the SPS2000? It's to be used for a table service restaurant, only 1 terminal, only 1 printer, no 'orderman' lelectronic ordering. If possible I'd like the terminal to be 'open' so that anybody can access the terminal at anytime with minimal or no sign-on.

Ideally any employee should be able to approach the terminal and open the table plan or directly access any table, add plu items to that table and walk away or print off the bill for that particular table.

Reckon I found my problem....I have an Epson T88III and not a T88II as I first thought.
Bought an Ellix 20 which is more than happy to print.
Thanks for your replies though.

I do have another question, which I hope that you can help with:
Is it possible to remove a cashed up check from the memory so that it is deducted from the running totals?

For example say Table5 ask for their check but they get Table6's check by mistake. They don't notice the mistake and pay the incorrect check and the cash goes into the till drawer. But then, the mistake is spotted and they are given that money back and asked to pay the proper Table5 check like they should have done. How can I get rid of the paid Table6 check that is in the epos system's memory?

Thanks in advance
