Could somebody please tell me the exact button sequence for programming VAT onto my Sharp XE-A102 and applying that to departments?

I need to operate three departments - one at zero and the others at 17.5%.

Grateful for any help as I'm at a loss currently!

Hi,

The settings you'll need to enter will depend on how your cash register is setup at the moment. To determine this first you will need to do the following:

Turn the key to the Z/PGM
Press #/ST

And let me know what it prints.

Cheers

Will do, thanks.

I can't get to that until tonight though, if it helps it's brand new and I've only completed the "quick start" guide. Had a go at programming the VAT but don't think I got anywhere.

If this is no help I'll look tonight and get back to you tomorrow.

Hi,

This is how to program Vat 1 as 17.5%:

Turn the key to Z/PGM
Press 9
Press #/ST
Press 1
Press X/TM
Enter 175000
Press #ST
Press #ST again to finish

All you departments are currently linked to Vat 1 which will automatically make them Vatable at 17.5%, so all you need to do is use the following procedure to change any departments that you want to be Non Vat:

Turn the key to Z/PGM
Enter 1000007
Press X/TM
Press the actual department key that you want to be Non Vat
Press #/ST to finish

I hope this helps.

Regards

Nemesis

That does help, thanks.

Now I've noticed that (whether I've pressed a wrong button or not I don't know!) dept's 3 and 4 that I have set as zero VAT now have a negative zero applied to them (on the till roll it shows -0.00) and subtracts anything entered into those departments from the total.

Before I mess this up any further I think I need to go back to the start, because I only need one dept at zero VAT (i tried another one when I thought I had done it wrong!!). So, any ideas on restoring default settings and then setting department three as zero VAT?

Any help much appreciated.

Tony

Hi Tony,

Sorry thats my fault

There's no need to reset it thought, just do the following for departments 3 & 4:
Turn the key to Z/PGM
Enter 7
Press X/TM
Press the actual department key that you want to be Non Vat
Press #/ST to finish

I'm not sure if leading zeros are supposed to be entered or not so if this doesn't seem to work than repeat the above but replace the 7 with 0000007

Hopefully this will do the trick.

Hi Chucan,

You will need to do a program read and let me know what it says:

Turn the key to the Z/PGM
Press #/ST

Then I'll hopefully be able to see where you are going wrong.

Cheers
