I have purchased a used Towa cash register, model NT 1081.It will not ring in $ and cents, but simply puts a comma as in 2,000 when I ring in $20.00. Is there an internal battery in this machine, and can I replace it. Is there a way I can program it to ring in the way I want it to. The cash register is a plug in electric, and quite simple for small cash transactions only. Any info regarding this machine would be appreciated.

Hi.
I know these well.
There is either a battery, or sometimes a large value capacitor. It lives on the main board inside. The most likely cause is that the battery went flat from sitting unplugged. Leave it plugged in for about 24 hrs to charge back up.
It will also need a full reset, as it now has corrupt memory. I'll find my notes for it.
Let me know when you have had it plugged in for a day, and we'll continue.

Mark
