Ooops.. dunno what happened but the till started to scroll up garbage while in use. Switched off/on again and everything seems to have reset back to factory settings.

Fortunatly I had recently printed out all the settings, but how do I log back in to enter them?. I have tried an engineer code I was given (2......5) but this won't let me in.

Any help would be apreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Thats not good... 8O

The engineer code you have is the only one that will get you back up and running so we first need to figure out why you can't login with it. When you try logging in in the SP position what exactly happens? As you enter the numbers does they appear on the screen as *'s like normal or do the numbers actually appear?

Cheers

Hi,

The first thing you need to try is an initial reset. You need the S key to do this, as follows:

Turn the S key to the secret position (This position isn't marked, it's one click past the Z1/P position
Turn the cash register off
Press the top left corner of the screen and keep pushing whilst turning the cash register back on.
The machine should beep 3 times
Turn the key to the R position and wait a couple of seconds
IR should appear on the screen if done correctly.

Then if you turn back to SP you should hopefully be able to log on as the engineer.

Tried that but didn't seem to help. I'll try to explain better what happens.

Did the reset as you explained, but it beep'd 3 + 1 times ie. 3 quick beeps a slight pause then a fourth beep, then I get the page 'Press A & B' etc. If I turn the key back I get garbage stuff in the top LH white and blue boxes with IR DONE BOOT ROM - TX870-06.01 FLASH ROM - v1.05f. No buttons work at all.

Then if I switch off/on again in whatever key position I still get the 3+1 beeps followed by the "press A&B" alignment screen. I still cannot log in with the engineer code which still shows up numerically rather than *'s :?

Sounds a bit terminal to me

Sorry, a little bit wrong in what I said above. After switching on in the unmarked position pressing the top LH corner of the screen I get the 3+1 beeps followed by the "Touch A&B", 1 beep with the A, 2 beeps with the B followed by the numeric pad etc to the left which works but numerics are shown when pushed not *'s. If I now turn the key to R, I get a default "Till" page, it doesn't say IR etc., the buttons click but nothing happens. I have no numeric keys to enter the engineers code. Try the reset again but turn the key to SP (still turned on) I get the screen as shown in the photo OR if I turn off and back on with the key set to SP, I get 3+1 beeps the "Touch A&B" then I get the screen shown in the photo.

Phew... sorry to go on but all this may help.

Hi,

I don't want to scare you but this isn't a good situation to be in. :(

It's a bit hit and miss and can be very tricky to get it in a responsive mode from the current status.
Give this a try a couple of times:

Turn to the secret position
Hold the top left
Turn the cash register on
Listen for the 3 beeps and release your finger
Press A
Press B
Wait about 10 seconds
Turn the key to the R position and wait for about 10 seconds (It may give another beep it may not)
Turn the key directly to SP without pressing any keys
Now try the engineer code

Is this any better?

If not there is still another possibility so don't give up just yet.

yesss... :D

Tried a few times, eventually the screen went into a fuzzy grey mode with just a faint hint of buttons, with the 'Front' led flashing. Nothing happened when I turned the key so I turned it off and back on in the SP setting and the engineer code went straight in.

Thanks a lot, you've been a great help. Keep up the good work

Donation on its way :)

Hi,

:D Thank you very very much for that kind donation, I'm really glad we managed to get it going again. There could potentially still be quite a lot to do but please ask every step of the way, I'll gladly guide you through it.

Thanks again, talk to you again soon.

Kind regards
