Hi!
I´m new in this forum and as most of the others I have a problem with my new machine. It´s a Uniwell EX 575. I´d like to use PLM2000 to change the setup.
I´d like to use the RS232 plugin but the machine doesn´t let me in. I tried mostly everything that´s wirtten in the manual. The PLM2000 versionnumber is 2.50 and I use a sub d plug supported by USB. The COM-Port adjustment of the software is as I think correct (COM 2, for hardwaremanager), the baut rate and all other options are as written in the manul. Everytime I triy to connect with the machine the computer shows a time out error. I tried to set the reg. into receiving mode but not a chance. Allways the same old same old: ICR check reqiured. I tried that a couple times in diffrent modes too.... useless. I even changed the systemflags for the channels A-D as noted in the manual.....
Is there anyone how can give me a hand on this. I´m desperate.
Thanx in advance, barkeeper

Hi,

First thing I need to know is the exact cables you are using? Is it 1 cable with a usb connector on one end and a D plug on the other end that plugs straight into the till itself or do you have that usb cable, then another cable which connects between that cable and the till (I hope that sentance makes some kind of sense) :?

Cheers

Mornin´!
At first, thanx for the reply, the 1st cable I use is an adaption from USB to serial (SubD, 9 pins) and the second is just an extension because of the nuts attatched to the converter (no null-modem cable). The adaptercable is a prolific RS232 converter. I used it for a friend´s weatherstation, so that doesn´t seem to be the week spot.
Hope that´s what you need to know to give me further advice.
See ya, Barkeeper

Hello!
I will give that a try, might take a while till I get that cable. Let you know if that was the problem, but what does that sign in the first line on the left and "screen" mean
Thanx again, barkeeper

Hi,

The screen is just the outer protective strands that cover the individual wires inside the cable, similar to the gold strands in the picture below. The strange symbol is just indicating that it doesn't need to be connected at that end. So basically, all the fine strands need to be twisted together and soldered to pin 1 at the till end and nothing needs doing with it at the other.

Hi, I´m back again after a long time sick. Got myself a cable and tried to work on my cashregister again. Just didn´t work. Cannot set the machine into transmitting or receiving mode. I tried mostly everything in the manual over and over. All it says is:" IRC check required". I did that a couple times and tried again but it didn´t work. What am I doing wrong? Need help!!

Hi,

When it says IRC Check and you say you tried that, what exact procedure did you try? what other settings are you changing? (I need to know everything from system flag numbers to IDs)

Cheers

Hello!
I coulndn´t stop playing with the machine. And I somehow managed to delete all the data. The machine then said:" setup required". I searched that and found: uniwell-ex-560f-t425.html
I turned the machine off, key in SP position, pressed the three upper buttons of the first column on the left (buttonnumbers 1, 2, 3) turned it on. ==> three beeps, then "busy" as headline, after that, headline: "RAM#01 200000".
Next thing: turned it of, pressed the three buttons on the left in the third row from below buttonnumbers (4, 10, 16).
The next headline:"setup required"==> I´m running in a circle here. Did the setup again, that experimentally pressed all kinds of buttons and finally ended up on the "dot"-button. I pressed that a couple times and the RAM numbers went up to RAM#16 and i think 980000 or 900000. After that i had lots of question marks in the headline and the machine took inputs again. I printed out a report with the key in pos. x and 99. It wrote:

Channel-A <RS485>
Baud Rate 19200 bps
-----------------------
Channel-B <RS232C>
For Use PC
Baud Rate 38400 pbs
Parity disable
Data Bit 7 bits
Stop-Bit 1 stop
ECR--ECR 38400 bps
-------------------------
S#01 0
--------------------------
ID# ???????????????
--------------------------
EX575-03-2.50
expctl-09-V2.12
X-0001
#000-000001 x

With the best hope that it might work now i typed in (key in SP pos) 8999 with the serial adapter set to COM 1, baud rate and all adjusted in the software and the hardware as written on the receit and the cables connected. ==> "IRC STATUS CHECK REQ" was all i got again. I tried that , SP-8800, pressed enter
==>
O.K.?--[ENT] or[.]
CANCEL-------[CL]
I pressed enter again and all there was, was a long neverending beep. Pressed cancel and left it allone like that.
What can i do?
Cheers Barkeeper
