Hi, I've been asked to set up a couple of Uniwell TX-875's and don't really know where to start. I have 2 units with cash drawers and a printer. One of the units has been factory reset and the other needs re-programming. I have cables for the cash drawers and the printer but no cable to link the units or to link a PC. I'm an IT professional and understand RS232 so I can make serial cables etc. although I have no experience with EPOS systems - maybe someone can give the cable pin outs? I have not done anything yet and plan to make a start this weekend so I would really appreciate any advice. The tills are going to be setup in a bar/restaurant with the bar taking food orders that will need to print out on the restaurants printer. Do these units have ethernet or is this an option? I see that I also plm2000 to program these
units. Where can I get this?

Maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Paul.

Hi Paul,

Sorry for the delay in responding.

This is the RS232 Cable spec that you will need for use with PLM2000:

Ethernet is unfortunately not available for this model.

And this is the cable you would need to link the tills and printers together, it done in a kind of daisy chain loop:

You can either program the machines manually or use PLM2000, did you manage to get hold of a copy?
Also, you will not be able to do anything unless you know the engineer code to get into the programming menu, do you know the code?

Cheers

Thanks very much for the cable info. So the comms between the ecrs and the printers is not serial? - What are all the rs232 db9 ports for?

I do not have the engineer code but I do have some phone numbers from the previous owner so I'll chase on Monday.

One of the tills is at factory default. Do I still an engineer code or is there a default one?

Sorry, but I'm really new to this and have no idea how to even get to the programming menu. Is there an installation guide I can download?
I don't have a copy of plm2000.

Cheers,

Paul.

Hi,

sorry that picture wasn't really the best one to use as its for the RJ45 versions of Uniwell tills. It is actually RS485 that is used for till to till communications, it is basically just a straight through 9pin male connector to a 9 pin male using pins 2,3,4 & 5 but the cable is twisted together in pairs within the cable itself. (I'll dig out the correct diagram for you).
The other RS232 ports can be used for scanners, printers journal streaming etc.

Cheers

Thanks for information you sent - I'll attempt to get going this week.......

Just one question for the moment.

the plm2000 program gives me a choice of 03-V4.5x, D3-V4.5x or K3-V4.5x - how do I find out which one I need?

Cheers,

Paul.

Thanks for all your help again.

I have another question about table tracks. In SF-37 I have set H to yes (Track uses table number system)
and set D to NO (Server Pickup Only)

Only the clerk who stored the track can see it using the "CLERK TRACK LIST" function although any clerk can recall it by entering the table number. How can I get any clerk to see all tracks?

Also is there a way of changing the TFT screen saver from the "Uniwell" logo to something else?

Thanks,

Paul.

Hi Paul,

As far as I can remember that is the idea of the Clerk Track List, it is only supposed to show the tables which that particular clerk has been working on, it's just for ease really. Like you say, the only way for other clerks to open these tables is via the table number key.
As for the logo I don't think there is any simple way to change it, there is a seperate utility for changing that logo.

Cheers

Help! - One of the stored tables cannot be accessed - "Bill in Use" is displayed - How do I clear (or recall) this table?
I have 3 ibuttons but the bar is telling me that only 2 have been used and both of these display the same message.

Thanks in advance.

Paul.

Hi,

It's just the one machine at the moment with a printer attached via IRC.

Paul.
