Hi . . .so sorry about this . . . I'm new to the cafe business, and I have acquired this old uniwell electronic till. It's all programmed for the previous owner. Obviously I want to re-program it for our new café. I've got the UX-43F Operations Manual and the UX-43F Programmer's Manual, and even with them I can't figure out what I need to do to re-set and re-create the PLUs. Ideally I would like to program it via a computer interface, but unfortunately, I'm exclusively a Mac person, and have little PC capacity. So I imagine that I shall need to program the machine from within itself -- anyway, I expect that the RS232C interface (that I imagine is on the UX-43F somewhere) is scarcely available on PCs these days, but I do have an older PC laptop which I could conceivably use with PLM2000 and/or the butler software mentioned in this forum. I don't mind if it's laborious, I just hope that this programming is feasible . . . but the instructions in the Programming Manual are not at all clear, so I don't know where or how to start. I'd have thought the Programming Manual would have simple instructions, but it's all in a kind of flow diagram, followed by tables which I cannot decipher.
Also, the keys in the flat keyboard layout shown in the Programming Manual are not quite the same as the designations that I have been given in the keyboard template on the machine. So it looks like the keyboard layout has been changed.
Sorry this is so vague . . . are there any ideas out there as to how I can expedite to our new business requirements? It looks like I shall have to find a Uniwell reseller/service centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, which is okay, but I would like the option to reprogram different PLUs without going back to the service engineer all the time. I'm definitely at a dead end so any advice will be very much appreciated. I've thrown my hands in the air now and asked
support@uniwell.co.uk for assistance in finding a service centre locally.
Many many thanks for any help out there!
cheers
