Hello. I have done a Key Initialisation 09 on the Setting menu in SRV on my UP-700 and I need help in releasing some of the keys assigned to Functions e.g I want to assign function 128 (Clerk sign on) to key 017 (000), but if I highlight 128 Clerk# and press key 017 I get an Entry Error.
Similarly, I would like to disable some of the pre-assigned functions completely, but if I highlight 999 Inhibit and press an already assigned key, I also get an Entry Error.
I am a cash reg virgin, so if anyone can suggest a guide to programming or even a good glossary I'd appreciate it.

Excellent forum, most helpful I've come across. Keep up the good work.

Thanks in advance

You cannot re-assign all of the keys. Off the top of my head, the numeric keys 0,00,000 and 1-9 cannot be overwritten (although you can add more of them) Mode, Total, Cancel (there may be others)

To completely redo the keyboard, but this will reset all programming, do a service reset while holding down receipt and journal. Follow the instructions on screen and press where you want the buttons to go. When you get to 00 and 000, i just press the same button twice and you get the 00.

Then you can allocate buttons as you see fit. But remember, you will have lost ALL programming. Not something I would recommend for a self confessed cash reg virgin!

Thanks for the input. Actually, I've already taken a deep breath, sucked in my gut, and done exactly that. If I'd know that I'd be prompted for the essential keys I'd have been happier. Wonderful manual! I have a listing of the different settings from life before reset so hopefully I'll survive with just a little less hair.
