Hello

Our current set up is two UP 700s connected up. To help with demand, I have just bought another second hand UP 700 and would like to use it as a second slave till.

Can anyone help with finding out if its set as a master/slave till and then to set it to a slave till?

I think I know how to then transfer all the programming via the Initial D/L section but when I try it, the master till can't seem to find the new till?

Also as silly as this may sound, what's the best way to connect all 3 tills together at once - connect both the slave ones into a router?

Any help appreciated!

Also I'm guessing this may need a service key, so any comments on how to mod a normal key or show where I could buy a service key would be also helpful!

Firstly, make sure the new till has a network card. It will have a port on the outside, but might not be connected to anything inside. I would open the cabinet (3 screws) and check.

Once I knew the card was there, would also check the memory - has your slave got a ram card and does the new one have a ram card. Check the slot on the right, near the front. If it has the same as the other slave, copy the program till to till from one to the other. Then plug all 3 machines into a network hub/switch and redo the IRC settings in service mode. You will need an SRV key for this - the initial d/l stuff wont work properly unless you do the steps above.

Will go have a look now and check everything you've said.

I was just about to post saying that after a little more time and frustration, I think I have assertained that the new till is in fact a slave till. Where I think I may be falling down is that the inline config settings only seem to allow me to change the last 3 numbers of the terminal and not the full address so if I do a inline read then on the original tills they come up as 000.000.000.001 or 000.000.000.002, the new one comes up as 192.168.000.003.

Any idea how to change the initial numbers?

Looked at all 3, they all have network cards and all have a ram card. Unfortunately I don't have a network hub but will get one shortly. I would like to get the new till working (am only trying a network of two to begin with) once that's sorted will get a hub for the 3 all together.

I'm guessing that without a SRV key I won't be able to modify the relevant settings to let me link them? So in that case is there anyone that can help me with a service key?

Thanks have done and have now gained access to the service menu!

I accessed the 3rd option which mentions IRC set up and found where it has the different IP address which I was trying to change to make it the same as the other two tills but when I changed the code and scrolled down and tried to press enter it would come up with entry error and wouldn't then change it to the code I set.

Also I messed up by, when having a look at the original master till to try and see why it wouldn't save I accidentally set it as a standalone till and then when I try to reset it as a master till it keeps coming up with the message entry error.

Any ideas where I am going wrong guys?

Hi. Hope this helps.
First of all, reset the IRC on all three machines. Then set up the slaves first. Starting at machine 3, choose 'Satellite' from the 'Terminal Setting' menu, then give it the IP address 192.168.0.3 (it doesn't matter what IP address you give it, but from MRS the address always has the first three block of numbers as'192.168.0.')
So, put the address in, then choose the options you want (note if you choose centralised clerks then the clerk file remains on the master till and the slaves look to it for clerk info), then press the CASH/TL button. Do the same on machine 2 (except IP address which will be 192.168.0.2).
Finally machine 1. Choose 'Master' from the 'Terminal Setting' menu. Set everything the same as the other two machines (except IP address which will be 192.168.0.1). Press Cash/TL. The master will now ask for the numbers of the slaves. The first blocks of the IP address will be the same (ie 192.168.0), so for the last block put in 2, then press Cash/TL, then same again but put in 3, then Cash/TL. Then press Cash/TL again and the master will go through the file set up process.
To download the till info to the new slave use the download option in SRV. Finally, do an 'Open Store' in PGM mode on the master to make sure T-Logging starts.
