Hi All,

We recently had our till network settings changed to match our new network settings. Since then, whenever the till is connected to the network, it has a nasty habit of 'locking up'.

Sometimes it will beep when keys are pressed, but nothing happens on screen and other menus cannot be accessed, it has to be reset using the switch as even turning it off and on doesn't fix the issue.

Any ideas?

I'm afraid I can't tell you what settings got put in as somebody else did it for us. What is strange is that the till communicates fine with our software to pull reports etc, although i've not made an attempt at this when it's 'locked up'.

Many thanks.

Hi
That sounds like a possible IP address conflict. What model of tills are you using?
The person that set up the network should have given the tills addresses well away from anything else, but I know from experience that 'IT engineers' never consider the tills!

Sorry. Missed the title of your post and answered my own question! You're using UP-811's. Same still applies about IP addresses.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to consult the manual and change the IP address then and see if that solves the issue. As far as i'm aware, we have no conflicts with IP's, but it's always worth a check. Unfortunately, I didn't set up the network, but I seem to always be fixing it!

Many thanks.

The IP 'problem' stems from the fact that the address '192.168.0.1' is the most commonly used address. It's the standard one on the tills.
Don't forget to change your back office software communication settings too! I've been there with that one..........
