I am experiencing issues writing to an SD card on a Sharp UP3500 EPOS system. I hope someone can help.

I first tried a PNY branded 2Gb SD card. Whether trying to use the SD Card mode or the Diagnostic mode, they would both report "SD Card Write Error". If you flick the write protect switch on the card, it recognises that it set to write protect. It also distinguishes between the card being present or not, so the till does recognise that it is in the slot.

I tried formatting this card in various ways from just using the whole card, to smaller partitions and trying FAT32, FAT16 and without any formatting at all.

Next I tried an "Extreme Memory" 512Mb card that I have used for several years in a digital camera. Formatting and transferring data to this card worked fine though it seemed to take an extremely long time to transfer data to the card.

This card has also now stopped working in the same way as the 2Gb card. No amount of formatting on my computer seems to change this behavior. Both cards work fine on different computers with different operating systems and read and write to the cards with no problem.

Are we looking at a possible hardware issue with the till or is there anything else we can try?

The till is running firmware v1.01.

Thanks in advance!

use sandisk 1gb cards. These are the cards specified by Sharp.

Sorry for the long delay in replying.

Thank you for your suggestions. A SanDisk card appears to be working fine now, so it appears to have resolved the issue.

Now set up with a network cable though that is causing its own issues, but will post a new topic if can not sort this side of things out.

Thanks for your help.
