You'll need to go to the master machine and do a System General Z. This will unlock the slave.

thanks porty,

we've just tried going to x1/z1 on master till, settings, system z, general, it gives you an option of all, or to choose machines, i've tried both, anyway it says error: 00002 power off, as if the slave till is off? but it isn't.

this all came about cos ECRM on the pc couldn't connect to till 2 for several days to do a z reading of both tills, we replaced a cable, didn't work, then turned off all routers and on again, then it worked! but meanwhile we were told we could get a z reading from till 2 (you know that bit already) - anyway, maybe we're somehow back to the original problem of not being able to connect to till 2. but if its not the cable, could it be anything else??

When it says 00002 power off, it means it can't connect to it.
Two questions for you though: do you have a srv key and secondly has anything else been connected to the hub recently?

just turned router off for 2 mins and on again, and tried system z general from master. it worked! but still slave till won't work... be really helpful if we can sort it today as particularly saturday tomorrow will be difficult with only one till. we are a small wholefood shop in derby but saturday can get busy. if theres any chance you can call we are on 01332 291369. i can call you back.

i think we do have SRV key, but not located it yet.

router - the cable from slave till is new. we also in process of replacing cable from router to pc, so i have plugged it in to check it, but its not replaced yet. can this fiddling with router cause problems? if so, how to solve?

thanks again.

At work at the moment but should be ok later. Just a simple thing to check. It is a straight through (patch) cable you're using to connect the slave to the router and not a crossover?
Quick way to check is both ends of the cable should be wired the same way for a straight through.
Also you should try to make sure the router is off when fiddling about. If not, leave it unplugged for a couple of minutes then try again for comms to the till.
Also try a RESET CLEAR on the slave now since the system reset worked and then an open store on the master.

i will check the cable.

tried reset clear from slave, just comes up with 'entry error' and beeeeep....

if you are able to call later that would be immensely appreciated. ask for ruth, or graham. he'll be here later than me.

just wondering if there could be problems because we have just recently started using wireless more. we always had wireless but were wired up anyway. now there is a cafe in the building that is using the wireless, for internet and for a music system. don't know if this can upset the routers. we have had to switch them off and on more than usual lately.

thanks a lot, ruth.

Ahh. That could be the answer. The 700s must have static ip addresses. The wifi will be handing out ip addresses one after the other to whoever asks for it first and the slaves address is probably being assigned elsewhere before the slave has to use it for comms.
One answer is to give everything in your network a static ip address.
There are other solutions but how good are you at networking?

ahhh!

personally i don't know about giving ip addresses or networking! but i have been known to follow instructions over the phone quite well.

we have a couple of volunteers who help us with IT stuff when it comes up, but they're not immediately available.

ps i don't know how you do thank yous for your help. if you like chocolate let us know! in the past on this forum i've made a financial donation to someone.

Same with me. I'm porty. I'll phone later.
Can you isolate the wifi router to try and see if the tills communicate?
