Hello.
My ER-2396 was working fine then all of sudden "E" appeared on the left side of the screen.
None of the keys work except for "Receipt Fee" and "Journal Feed". None of the others key work...I press them and no beep or nothing. When I power down and turn on, it comes on with a beep.

If I have to open it up, how do I open up ER-2396?
I saw in the forum that I may be able to bring it back to life by removing the battery and turning it on after while. However, I have no idea how to open it up to get to the battery.

I need to fix it tonight or I am in trouble.

I've never seen one of these before unfortunately but since you are desperate it could be something to do with the printer. Have you tried taking out the till roll completely, giving it a good blow out and replacing the roll?

Or with the key in R, turn the power off and turn it back on whilst holding the CL key.

Looking at pictures I'm not sure these have removable batteries, either way the lid is removed by taking off the printer cover and unscrewing the screw(s) that hold the machine onto the metal till drawer. then the whole top section will slide backwards or forwards and the full lot will lift off.
