Like many others it seems that i have fallen foul of the programming complications of this machine. First - from other forum entries it seems I need to know how to properly reset the machine so that I can start again if necessary - somewhere else there is reference to 3 beeps reset that I have no idea how to perform.

In order to understand the possibilities of programming this machine I have set up some Departments as SICS and some as Normal. The SICS Departments seem to work happily as cash sales but this is not really what we require. Using any Departments set up as normal to enter transactions now ALWAYS results in an Over Limit error after pressing the TL/NS key. So this is my second requirement - how to set up these departments and their associated PLU's (which seem to provide the right entries for transactions but will not total any better than the departments).

All departments are set to 7 or 8 digits - Open or Open and Preset.

In attempting to understand this I have set and reset some departments between Normal and SICS but surely this should not matter - if it does then there is a fundamental design fault in the machine.

Finally - the organisation for which I work is a non-profit organisation so we do not use register receipts (receipts are prepared manually). Therefore I have set the receipt printer to EJ mode It seems that in this mode some (but not all) of the information about a transaction is printed at the time of the transaction and that what is printed is not advanced into full view
- is this normal?

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sound more like to me though you have set a limit on your TL/NS key , because it allows you to enter the value against the department, but not cash it off

To set your TL/NS key back to allow 8 digits (page 54 of the instruction book)

Turn key to PGM
Enter 008
Press X (multiplication key)
Press #/TM/ST
Press TL/NS

If that don`t work

Do a printout of your department programming

Turn key to program
Press 4
Press TL/NS

Tell us the Code to the far right of the Department code number
eg D01 might be 081 (0 = normal department , 8 = up to 8 number 9`s can be entered, and 1= open department)
write the codes down for
D02
D03
D04
etc

Good Luck and Gday

:D
Thank you for the reply and im sorry for a delay in replying myself.
The first suggestion of repprogramming the TL?NS key fixed the problem although curiously i had done nothing to reprogram this from the default setting. Also there is no mention of this process on p54 of the manual supplied with our machine.

Thank you once again.
As a former programmer and writer of end user documentation it would be very tempting to rewrite the manual.

Regards
Paul
